According to the female employee who spoke to Fox 5, the customer grew aggressive after she allegedly saw him trying to take his tacos from behind the counter.
He attempted to steal them, but he was unsuccessful since I disposed of them in the trash. After that, he just got angry,” the employee, who wished to remain unnamed, added.
Fox 5 was able to capture video of the man attempting to get his box of food as the staffer was preparing it by reaching over the counter glass. She throws his food in a garbage can behind her when she notices what the customer is doing.
The man then starts throwing objects at the employee while wearing a white shirt, a black beanie, and a green bag. He flung register displays, plastic containers, a napkin dispenser, and registers at her.
Before entering a door leading to the restaurant’s back, the employee was observed holding up her arms to shield her face.
Thankfully, no one was harmed during the incident.
The staffer said, “A lot of crazy stuff happens at this Chipotle, but not that.”
According to a police report acquired by Fox Business, DC’s Metropolitan Police stated that officers who rushed to the restaurant were informed that the guy grew “irate” because he felt his food wasn’t being prepared quickly enough.
According to the complaint, the man rode a rental scooter away from the site. A $1,000 reward is being offered by the police for information that results in the man being charged.
Chief Corporate Affairs Officer Laurie Schalow wrote in an email to Fox Business Digital on Friday, “We are aware of the sad situation that took place in one of our Washington, DC, restaurants last month.
“The health and safety of our employees is our top priority, and we will keep collaborating closely with law enforcement to see that those who don’t treat our teams with the respect they deserve are brought to justice,” the company stated.
