According to officials, two Ukrainian drones tried to attack the Kremlin early on Wednesday but were unsuccessful.
According to Putin’s administration, the president was unharmed in the “terrorist attack,” and the Kremlin complex remained unharmed.
Putin was not in the Kremlin when the raid took place, according to Dmitry Peskov, Putin’s spokesperson, who spoke to RIA Novosti. Putin was working on Wednesday at his Novo-Ogaryovo estate outside of Moscow, he said.
The assault happened as Russia was ready to celebrate Victory Day on May 9. The yearly military parade on Red Square, just outside of the Kremlin walls, serves as the focal point of celebrations commemorating the triumph over Nazi Germany and its allies in World War II.
The event will include attendance from Putin and other senior officials as well as international visitors. The procession will go on as planned, said to Peskov.
