The 12-count indictment charges Scott with making $11,000 by selling 20 cartons of stolen body parts. According to reports, the contents contained fetuses, big portions of skin, genitalia, hearts, and lungs.
Following complaints about his actions, Pennsylvania officials found the alleged buyer, Jeremy Lee Pauley, according to CBS. In Pauley’s basement, investigators discovered a variety of human remains, including brains, hearts, livers, skin, and lungs. Pauley is now facing many accusations in Pennsylvania, including receiving stolen items and mistreating a body.
According to Arkansas Online, police claim that in October 2021, Scott contacted Pauley online and offered her pieces of deceased persons who were supposed to be cremated. She reportedly asked him in a private Facebook message if he knew “anyone in the market for a fully intact, embalmed brain?”
According to NPR, Leslie Taylor, a spokeswoman at the University of Arkansas, thanked the federal government for their involvement in the case. Taylor allegedly said that the institution is “extremely respectful of our donors when they are in our care” and that “bodies are an indispensable aid in the education of medical students.” Scott is now being held without bond while waiting for her trial to start at the end of May. Pauley, who was reselling the components on Facebook under the guise of being a “preservation specialist,” is free on bond. The date of his preliminary hearing is June 7.
