Greene released footage of a congressional meeting in which she branded Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas “a liar” and received criticism from other committee members, including Tennessee Republican Mark Green, head of the House Committee on Homeland Security.
“It’s pretty clear that the rules state that you can’t impugn someone’s character,” Green writes in his judgment on MGT’s assertion. In this committee, it is inappropriate to label someone a liar, thus I rule that we must remove those statements.
MGT was furious at being silenced.
It is noteworthy that Chair Green has not publicly criticized Secretary Mayorkas or praised Biden, calling them out for supposed “deriliction of duty.”
After being chosen as chair, Green made the following statement: “Our main objective is to resolve the border crisis that Biden precipitated for the benefit of our national security and homeland security. No neighborhood in the United States will be unscathed as millions of illegal immigrants pour over our border. The fentanyl epidemic that is killing tens of thousands of Americans must be stopped. We will provide the equipment required for our valiant CBP troops to complete the assignment. And make no mistake, we will hold Secretary Mayorkas and President Joe Biden responsible for their total neglect of duty in failing to address this catastrophe.
