The agreement was reached on the opening day of the civil trial at a court in Wilmington, Delaware.
“We are glad that our disagreement with Dominion Voting Systems has been resolved. We accept the Court’s decisions that certain assertions about Dominion are untrue,” Fox stated in a statement. “This agreement demonstrates FOX’s ongoing dedication to the highest journalistic standards,” said the statement.
The network’s statement added, “We are hoping that our choice to settle this disagreement with Dominion peacefully, rather than the bitterness of a divisive trial, will enable the nation to move ahead from these difficulties. As part of the deal, the publication agreed to pay $787.5 million in damages, according to NBC News.
Just before 4 p.m., Delaware Superior Court Judge Eric Davis told the jurors they may go, stating, “[t]he case has been resolved and it’s resolved because of you,” according to the Independent.
By deliberately enabling guests to spread false claims that the 2020 presidential election was rigged and that Dominion’s voting equipment were involved, Fox, according to Dominion, defamed the firm. Fox had argued that the First Amendment protected it and that the accusations made against the business were noteworthy.
After deciding that Dominion had shown the first part of its claim—namely, that the information Fox printed about the corporation was false—Davis permitted the case to go forward to trial in late March.

At the time, Judge Eric Davis ruled, “The evidence collected in this civil process reveals that it is CRYSTAL obvious that none of the Statements related to Dominion regarding the 2020 election are truthful.
Davis later determined that Dominion would not have been allowed to discuss the network’s coverage of the Capitol riot on January 6, 2021, asserting that any mention of the matter might distort the jury’s perception of the case in question. The terms and content of the trial later became a source of contention.
