Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy announced on Saturday that he is ordering an investigation into whether government monies are being used for “politically motivated prosecutions” in light of allegations that former President Donald Trump might be indicted as soon as next week.
“Here we go again”, McCarthy tweeted, with the appalling abuse of authority by a radical district attorney who lets dangerous criminals walk while seeking political vengeance against President Trump.
McCarthy made this statement in response to rumors that the Manhattan District Attorney’s office is getting ready to indict Trump for hush money payments he allegedly made during his 2016 presidential campaign.
McCarthy wants the House to look into the matter because the move has caused Republicans to worry that the prosecution is politically motivated.
McCarthy has ordered an investigation into whether or not government money have been used to “subvert our democracy” by interfering in elections through politically motivated prosecutions.
