Authorities said a Florida man with “an extraordinarily violent record” fatally shot four family members, including his 15-year-old daughter, at a residence early Wednesday.
The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office accused Domenico Claude Gigante, 36, of Rockledge with four counts of premeditated first-degree murder in the murders of Glenda Mae Terwilliger, 63, Michael Andrew Watson, 36, Constance Marie Terwilliger, 35, and 15-year-old Kiarrra.
Two 6- and 9-year-old children at the Cocoa, Florida, residence were unharmed by the shootings. The sheriff’s office stated a child’s video chat caller drove to the home and contacted 911.
Sheriff Wayne Ivey told reporters Gigante has a history of animal cruelty. Ivey called him “very violent.” “This person should never have been on our streets.”
The sheriff also added that Gigante was arrested for domestic violence and battery in 2005 and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and aggravated assault in 2012.
Gigante was arrested for animal cruelty in 2008. Ivey told reporters that the murder suspect killed a dog by smashing its head into a table and snapping its neck and stabbed another dog. Ivey remarked, “If you’re bad enough to hurt an animal, you’ll hurt a human.”
Investigators said Gigante was Kiarra Terwilliger’s biological father and had dated her mother, Constance Marie. Ivey said detectives believe the attack was domestic and isolated.
