A thief and his accomplices learned a lesson the hard way when a woman drove over a man who was trying to steal her catalytic converter and killed him. The woman said she was asleep in her truck when she was awoken by the sound of the theft in progress.
She put the car in reverse and tried to get away but ran over the thief who was trying to saw off her catalytic converter. She called 911. The thief was pronounced dead at the hospital. The cops arrested his three accomplices.
The Los Angeles County Sheriffs Department said in a statement: “On Tuesday, February 14, 2023, at 5:56 p.m., Palmdale Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a retail parking lot located on the 39000 block of 10th Street West, Palmdale regarding a Grand Theft in progress/person down call for service.
“Upon arriving at the scene, deputies saw a 4×4 Ford Excursion partially backed out of one of the parking stalls, and another smaller vehicle in the parking stall next to it.

“Deputies saw a Male Hispanic lying on the ground, later identified as a Grand Theft suspect, who was run over by the victim.
“The victim was asleep inside of the 4×4 Ford Excursion when the smaller vehicle pulled up next to it with 4 suspects inside (2 Male Hispanics, and 2 Female Hispanics).
“One of the male suspect’s exited the smaller vehicle and began sawing off the catalytic converter of the 4×4 Ford Excursion.
“The victim woke up from the sound, turned the car on, put the vehicle in reverse, and felt a bump like she ran something over.
“She stopped immediately, leaving the suspect on the ground after running him over. The Grand Theft victim called 9-1-1 for medical assistance for the suspect.
“Deputies arrived on scene and detained the 3 remaining suspects.
“The first suspect was transported via ambulance to Antelope Valley Hospital, and pronounced deceased,” the department said.
