Too much power is in the hands of the federal government. Because of all the things it funds, regulates, and supports that it has no business supporting, the government imposes excessive taxes, wastes excessive funds, and incurs excessive debt. We wouldn’t want the government we have now, even if it were free, as former Texas Senator Phil Gramm used to remark. The federal deficit and debt are both at all-time highs. Neither is reasonable; they’re both excessive. Still, Democrats appear to be unaware of the correlation between expenditure and debt levels as debates over raising the debt ceiling get underway….
