The confidential records from President Joe Biden’s time as vice president that were discovered at the Penn Biden Center are being investigated by the House Oversight Committee. The chairman of the committee, Rep. James Comer (R-KY), wrote letters to the White House Counsel’s Office and the National Archives asking records and correspondence pertaining to the discovered classified materials.
“NARA hid the fact that President Biden, after serving as Vice President, kept extremely sensitive documents in a closet at his own office for months from Committee Republicans and the general public. Days before the 2022 midterm elections, NARA learnt about these records but chose not to inform the public that President Biden might have been breaking the law “Comer wrote the National Archives in a letter.

Comer also questioned why the alleged handling of confidential documents by Biden received a different response than the alleged handling of classified documents by former President Donald Trump.
He also expressed concern about the Obama administration records that were mishandled for years following Biden’s vice presidential tenure.
In a letter to White House lawyer Stuart Delery, Comer stated, “The Committee is concerned that President Biden has jeopardized sources and techniques with his own mishandling of classified documents.”
Comer claims that by January 24th, he is looking for pertinent communications and documentation from both parties.
According to a Monday report from CBS News, the roughly 10 classified documents Biden’s attorneys uncovered at the Penn Biden Center were found in November 2022 and sent back to the National Archives immediately after.
Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee Mike Turner (R-OH) demanded an immediate examination and damage assessment of the materials in a letter to Avril Haines, the director of national intelligence, on Tuesday.
