These two had what many thought was the perfect all-American life. They looked like a successful, happy couple. But all of that came crashing down on Christmas Day when a murder took place in their beautiful home, and now a New Jersey woman is accused of shooting and killing her husband, who was a very prominent and outspoken Republican community leader and volunteer. She claims the two were in a fight on Christmas night when the shots rang out. That’s what she told the 911 dispatcher when she called to report what had happened.
Press of Atlantic City reported that a Hamilton Township woman charged with murdering her husband on Christmas Day said the couple was in an altercation before the fatal shooting, according to court records.
Marylue Wigglesworth, 51, shot David Wigglesworth, 57, late on Christmas night. She was taken to the Atlantic County jail.
Wigglesworth will appear for a detention hearing Wednesday, court officials said.
At 10:19 p.m. Sunday, police were dispatched to a home in the 5200 block of Somers Point-Mays Landing Road, the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office said. When police arrived, they found David Wigglesworth with a gunshot wound in a bedroom.
According to an affidavit of probable cause for her arrest, Marylue Wigglesworth called 911, saying she’d been in a fight. A handgun was also in the bedroom, according to the affidavit.
David Wigglesworth was a public figure in Hamilton Township, having previously been president of the Planning Board. He also unsuccessfully ran as a Republican for the Township Committee in 2012, losing to Democratic challengers Rodney Guishard and Judy Link.
Friends who knew the couple well, are in shock over what happened. “I cannot believe this. Our hearts are completely shattered,” commented a local, who says she knew the couple, on Facebook. “We’ve known Dave and Mary for years. Bill knew them since he was a little kid in the old neighborhood. Bill saw and spoke with him a few days ago. We are both sick over this. This just can’t be true. Prayers for everyone …I’m in complete shock. Rest in peace, Wiggy.”

I will tell you what, social media is so deceiving. You never really know what’s going on deep beneath the surface. Nobody will show you that on Facebook or Instagram. But clearly, these two had serious issues for the relationship to end in this horrific and bloody way.
