Twitter CEO Elon Musk fired the shot heard round the world on his social media platform last night confirming he will build his open phone if Apple and Google ban Twitter from their App stores.
Reporter Liz Wheeler asked Musk, “ If Apple & Google boot Twitter from their app stores, @elonmusk should produce his own smartphone. Half the country would happily ditch the biased, snooping iPhone & Android. The man builds rockets to Mars, a silly little smartphone should be easy, right?”
Musk said: “I certainly hope it does not come to that, but, yes, if there is no other choice, I will make an alternative phone.”
Reporter Joshua Philipp said: “Imagine a smartphone without all the spy and tracking features, and that stands up for free speech.
I certainly hope it does not come to that, but, yes, if there is no other choice, I will make an alternative phone

“The demand would be huge. Take the extra step to not build it with Chinese slave labor, and Apple would be done.”
Musk also defended his decision to let Trump back on Twitter:
“I’m fine with Trump not tweeting.
“The important thing is that Twitter correct a grave mistake in banning his account, despite no violation of the law or terms of service.
“Deplatforming a sitting President undermined public trust in Twitter for half of America.”
Musk also said he would back Ron DeSantis for prescient if the Florida governor runs:
“But freedom of speech is the bedrock of a strong democracy and must take precedence.
“My preference for the 2024 presidency is someone sensible and centrist.
“I had hoped that would the case for the Biden administration, but have been disappointed so far.”
When asked by a Twitter user, “Would you support Ron DeSantis in 2024, Elon?”
Musk said, “Yes.”
