Dr. Ben Carson broke his silence to weigh on what doctors should do when confronted with minors seeking sex change surgeries.
Carson was asked by The Daily caller: “If you were working at a hospital and your hospital approached you and asked you to perform sex-change treatment on a minor, what would you do?”
Carson said: “I would absolutely, adamantly refuse, in all circumstances. There’s a reason why they’re called minors. They don’t really know a lot of things, and they learn over the course of time as they become mature.
“I suspect that in the future we will look back on this period of transgenderism and say, ‘How could those people be so foolish?’

“I would strongly recommend to doctors who currently practice that they remember the Hippocratic Oath, and that they first do no harm.
“And that they recognize that they’re expected to lead out in this area, and not be followers, and not be sheeple.
“But lead out, and to help people understand that children are in the process of maturation.
“What little girl hasn’t wanted to climb trees like girls or put on their father’s tool belt?
“What little boy hasn’t had the curiosity to put his foot in his mother’s high heel?
“Does that mean that they want to change their sex?
“Some people seem to think so,” Carson said before reminding the public that children are in the state of “maturation” and are not ready to make such monumental decisions.
According to Fox News:
A joint committee of Florida’s two medical boards voted Friday to approve a rule banning puberty blockers and other gender dysphoria treatments for minors in the state.
The Florida Board of Medicine and the Florida Board of Osteopathic Medicine approved the rule prohibiting minors from receiving puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones and transgender surgery after Florida Surgeon General Joseph A. Ladapo asked the Board of Medicine in June to establish a standard of care for such “complex and irreversible procedures.”
The boards disagreed regarding how best to regulate Florida minors who have already begun treatment with puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones.
The Board of Osteopathic Medicine voted to allow those treatments to continue if they were part of a clinical trial approved by an Institutional Review Board. The Board of Medicine voted against that exception.
Megan Twohey, who co-wrote the article exposing Harvey Weinstein, could’ve taken the safe route and avoided subjects that alienate the readers who love her for her catalyzing MeToo. Instead she’s done a deep investigation of the risks of puberty blockers. https://t.co/tN7emInCoa
