New York Times reporters Jonathan Martin and Alexander Burns have a new book coming out soon, This Will Not Pass: Trump, Biden, and the Battle for America’s Future, that has White House insiders seeing red.
Because the book has a lot of reporting that is unflattering to the Dem Party, to President Joe Biden, and especially to Vice President Kamala Harris. The authors claim Biden snapped at Harris during a crucial meeting with GOP leadership about the infrastructure bill in such a harsh tone that “even Republican Senators were taken aback.”
The authors say Kamala tried to steer the negotiations back toward Democratic priorities during the meeting, writing she “began to make the case for a larger package than the one Republicans seemed to have in mind.”
“Biden dismissed her comment immediately” so firmly “that even the Republican senators were taken aback.”
“Some of Harris’s advisers believed the president’s almost entirely white inner circle did not show the vice president the respect she deserved.
“Harris worried that Biden’s staff looked down on her; she fixated on real and perceived snubs in ways the West Wing found tedious.”
“Staff floated the possibility of the vice president overseeing relations with the Nordic countries — a low-risk diplomatic assignment that might have helped Harris get adjusted to the international stage in welcoming venues like Oslo and Copenhagen,” they wrote as Harris was given the politically terrible job at the southern border many took as a way to make sure Kamala didn’t outshine Joe.
The easy job was “rejected” by White House aides who “privately mocked” it.
“More irritating to Biden aides was when they learned the vice president wanted to plan a major speech to outline her view of foreign policy,” they wrote.
“Biden aides vetoed the idea.
“Why should a vice president have their own independently articulated view of global affairs?”
The book also quotes a senator close to Harris saying the vice president’s frustration level was “up in the stratosphere” after she realized Biden sunk her with the border job saying her political future looked like a “slow-rolling Greek tragedy.”
The book also shows two of Biden’s senior aides, White House Office of Public Engagement director and senior adviser Cedric Richmond, and Counselor to the President Steve Ricchetti, trashing members of the squad.
Richmond had the harshest response to the political bungling by the Squad possibly because they went after him, or an associated group the Sunrise Movement did because he of ties to the oil and gas business.
In response, Richmond called Reps Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Rashida Tlaib “f*cking idiots” to a friend.
Steve Richetti has been around Joe Biden for a long time. His brother is a top lobbyist in Washington running the same game as the Podesta brothers did during the Clinton administration.
Even with all that money coming in to his family member, Richetti was still not happy and blasted the Squad telling a Biden ally that the “problem with the left is they don’t understand that they lost.”
