Stephanie Grisham, the former White House Press Secretary and Communications Director, is collaborating with the House Select Committee investigating the violence at the United States Capitol on Jan 6th, according to a story published Tuesday by CNN.
When a brawl broke out in the Capitol on Jan 6th, Grisham became the first official from the Trump administration to quit.
Grisham was one of President Donald Trump’s longest-serving members of his administration, and when former Chief of Staff Mark Meadows withdrew his participation, she became the highest-ranking former Trump administration official to agree to voluntarily appear before the committee.
In a conversation with Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD), according to CNN, Grisham was “encouraged” to meet with the committee. On January 6, Raskin and Grisham, according to reports, “had an in-depth phone conversation concerning her knowledge of events that occurred behind the scenes at the White House.”
When Grisham resigned her jobs as press secretary and communications director in April 2020 after less than a year in those positions, she returned to her previous position as chief of staff to First Lady Melania Trump. Grisham is well-known for her refusal to conduct a news conference.
