The bikes are then given to local organizations and the Springfield School District, which distributes them to families that qualify for McKinney Vento – a national program that offers assistance to children suffering homelessness.
“This is definitely our finest event…. You can see the joy on people’s faces; the simple act of giving brings out the best in people “Brian White, general manager of Sanipac, said.
Devon Bates enlisted the assistance of his 6-year-old son Quincy and 11-year-old daughter Kamiah.
“My children’s eyes lit up when they saw their first bikes beneath the tree. That is the most wonderful sensation a parent can have “As Bates said. “I like contributing to the community… I definitely should do more of it, and I like that Sanipac allows me to do so. We’re here with family and friends and contributing to the community, so it’s a win-win situation.”
