It looks like narcissist Jussie Smollett officially screwed himself over when he took the stand in his own defense at his hate hoax trial.
That’s the latest coming from a female juror who helped decide Jussie’s fate.
The anonymous juror spoke with a local reporter and told him that Jussie sealed his own fate with his poor attitude during his testimony.
She also gives a lot of interesting little nuggets about what went on behind the scenes in the jury room and also explains that strange “not guilty” on the 6th charge.
Bizpacreview reported that an anonymous female juror claimed that the entire jury was convinced he was guilty right off the bat. His poor testimony and his attitude sealed the deal, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.
However, she shockingly contended, “It was not evenly split, but there were some doubters.” Even so, she stated that the jurors didn’t have major disagreements concerning Smollett’s guilt.
“All thought [they] were doing Jussie a favor when they chose to convict the actor of five, rather than six, counts of disorderly conduct,” the juror declared.
The jurors got hung up on the reasoning behind the sixth charge and why it was presented differently than the other ones.
“We were told it was an aggravated battery because he said they were wearing a mask,” the juror stated. But “in all [of Smollett’s] accounts of what happened, he mentioned a mask.”
The juror went on to note that Special Prosecutor Dan Webb was “methodical” and “plodding” in his arguments, virtually ensuring the case against Smollett was “seamless.” Smollett’s attorney on the other hand didn’t impress the jury.
Smollett’s defense weakly consisted of character witnesses and three and a half hours of direct examination. His attorney did not offer a motive for why the Nigerian brothers allegedly lied and that was one of the factors that heavily contributed to his guilty verdict. The brothers’ testimony convinced the jurors of Smollett’s guilt.
Despite Smollett’s lack of credibility, the jury found it difficult to convict him according to the juror.
“It wasn’t an easy decision. You’ve got the mother sitting there. You feel bad. We didn’t know what the penalty would be. Are we sending this guy to jail?” she commented. “I just hope that [Smollett and his attorneys] know that we went in there with an open mind.”
“I listened to both sides. We wanted to make sure that those who had doubts didn’t feel pressured,” she said.
And in keeping with his narcissistic persona, Jussie Smollett will be appealing this verdict and is “confident” that his conviction will be overturned.
I think he has a better chance of becoming Subway’s next spokesperson than that ever happening.
