MSNBC has been barred from being in court for the Kyle Rittenhouse trial after a producer with the network was caught following the jury bus trying to photograph jurors on Wednesday night.
The Daily Beast reported that Judge Bruce Schroeder revealed on Thursday morning that Kenosha Police apprehended a person “who identified himself as James J. Morrison, and who claimed he was a producer with NBC News and MSNBC.” Schroeder added that Morrison had been pulled over for running a red light and that he told police he’d been instructed to follow the jury bus.
“I have instructed that no one from MSNBC will be permitted in this building for the duration of this trial,” Schroeder said. “This is a very serious matter. And I don’t know what the ultimate truth of it is.”
The Kenosha Police Department has since issued a statement confirming that a person “who is alleging to be affiliated with a national media outlet was briefly taken into custody and issued several traffic-related citations.”
“Police suspect this person was trying to photograph jurors,” the police added, going on to say that the incident is “being investigated much further.”
Both Judge Schroeder and the police have said that the jury’s security was never compromised in the incident. They are currently on their third day of deliberations in the murder trial of Rittenhouse.

NBC, however, has issued a statement claiming that the person was a freelancer who just happened to get a traffic citation near the jury bus.
“Last night, a freelancer received a traffic citation. While the traffic violation took place near the jury van, the freelancer never contacted or intended to contact the jurors during deliberations and never photographed or intended to photograph them,” NBC’s statement read. “We regret the incident and will fully cooperate with the authorities on any investigation.”
Fox News hosts have since commented on MSNBC being banned from the courtroom.
“I think it speaks to this bigger issue of chilling free speech,” Fox News host Harris Faulkner declared. “And I don’t mean on behalf of MSNBC. They wanted to change the narrative! They wanted to get pictures of people, and they know that’s wrong.”
“They have so poorly misbehaved,” added former White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany. “That means Joy Reid will have essentially no facts for her show. MSNBC is not in the courtroom. She’s been among the worst offenders to defame this young man, among others at her network.”
