UNITED KINGDOM – Nearly 10,000 individuals have died from non-Covid causes in the last four months, prompting experts to ask for an immediate government investigation into whether the fatalities may have been avoided.
Concerns are rising that NHS delays at the pandemic’s peak resulted in a huge number of individuals with previously manageable diseases becoming needlessly deadly.
According to the Office for National Statistics, in the last 18 weeks, England and Wales recorded 20,823 more fatalities than the five-year average.
Only 11,531 people died as a result of Covid. Such data indicate that 9,292 fatalities, roughly 45% of all categorized deaths, were unrelated to the pandemic.
The University of Oxford’s Centre for Evidence-Based Medicine director, Professor Carl Heneghan, said he’s “calling for an urgent investigation” amidst the revelation.
“If you look at where the excess is happening, it’s in conditions like ischemic heart disease, cirrhosis of the liver, and diabetes, all of which are potentially reversible. This goes beyond just looking at the raw numbers and death certificates. We need to go back and find if these deaths have any preventable causes.”
Professor Carl Heneghan noted that these inexplicable upticks in deaths compared to recent years could result from actions taken during the height of the pandemic, regarding the general public’s then-fear of going to hospitals coupled with then-hospital practices regarding various treatments of non-COVID patients.
“This could be the fallout from the lack of preventable care during the pandemic, and what happens downstream of that. We urgently need to understand what’s going wrong and an investigation of the root causes to determine those actions that can prevent further unnecessary deaths.”
For the week ending November 5th, there were 1,659 more fatalities than would be anticipated at this time of year, according to weekly statistics. Data shows that 700 of the aforementioned deaths were not COVID-related.
As additional fatalities are reported in the coming weeks, the surplus is sure to expand.
Since the summer, according to the UK Health Security Agency, there have been thousands of more fatalities attributed to heart failure, heart disease, circulatory disorders, and diabetes than the five-year average.
The number of fatalities in residential homes is also nearly 41% more than the five-year norm, with 964 excessive deaths reported in the week ending November 5th.
Apparently, there are record waiting lists for treatment still being addressed. The NHS is still trying to clear the treatment backlog left by the pandemic, with 5.8 million individuals in England waiting for elective procedures, the largest number ever recorded.
In response to the ongoing heavy backlog, a Department of Health and Social Care spokesman stated that ongoing monetary investments into the healthcare system are helping to clear the backlogs that have been created since the onset of the pandemic.
“Any death is a tragedy for the family and loved ones that are left behind, and our condolences go out to anyone who has been affected. Our record investment is helping to tackle the backlog and recover NHS services with an extra £2 billion this year, plus £8billion more over the next three years to deliver an additional 9 million checks, scans, and operations.
Alongside this, we are committed to leveling up health, and the new Office for Health Improvement and Disparities will support people across the country to live healthier lives and prevent illness.”
Red Voice Media would like to make a point of clarification on why we do not refer to any shot related to COVID-19 as a “vaccine.” According to the CDC, the definition of a vaccine necessitates that said vaccine have a lasting effect of at least one year in preventing the contraction of the virus or disease it’s intended to fight. Because all of the COVID-19 shots thus far available have barely offered six months of protection, and even then not absolute, Red Voice Media has made the decision hereafter to no longer refer to the Pfizer, Moderna, or Johnson & Johnson substances as vaccinations.
