Former President Donald Trump has left some of his supporters puzzled this week after he announced that he will be attending a gala fundraiser with the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) tonight in Tampa, Florida. Since the NRCC is known to be bankrolling various pro-impeachment candidates, many would argue that this is Trump effectively fundraising for the swamp.
“I will be doing a roundtable and speaking tonight at the National Republican Congressional Committee annual dinner in Tampa. Look forward to being there!” Trump said in a statement released on Monday.

Big League Politics reported that “the problem with Trump’s announcement is that the NRCC is a Washington D.C. swamp organization operating at the behest of Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-FL). They are raising funds to help Republican lawmakers who betrayed their country and voted to impeach Trump, as a matter of fact.”
Rep. Darin LaHood (R-IL), who is currently the finance chair for the NRCC, recently said that incumbents who joined Democrats in voting in favor of impeaching Trump would continue to receive financial support from the GOP establishment’s slush fund.
“If we are going to become the majority party — which I think we will — you’ve got to accept that we’re a big tent,” LaHood said.
Rep. Tom Emmer of Minnesota, the chair of the NRCC, has even publicly attacked Trump for supporting America First Republican primary challengers against RINO incumbents.
“He can do whatever he wants,” Emmer said after it was reported that Trump is injecting himself into contentious primary races in the hopes of defeating RINOs. “But I would tell him that it’s probably better for us that we keep these people and we make sure that we have a majority that can be sustained going forward. That’s not gonna be helpful.”
Despite this, McCarthy and Emmer have reportedly raised six figures to help Republicans who turned on their party by voting to impeach Trump. Emmer reportedly recently attended a fundraiser for Rep. Jaime Herrera-Beutler (R-WA), who is being primary challenged by several America First candidates after voting for impeachment.
“McCarthy is talking out of one side of his mouth — saying he supports the MAGA movement, Trump and President Trump’s policies,” Kent said, according to Mediaite. “But his money is supporting Jamie Herrera Beutler and four of the other impeachment voters. It’s just part of the GOP grift. So me and the rest of the base, we’ve kind of have heard enough from them.”
