NEW JERSEY – According to reports, Democratic New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy managed to secure reelection – but by literally only a fraction of a percent against Republican challenger Jack Ciattarelli.
In a state that was polled as smooth sailing for the Democratic incumbent was anything but – demonstrating that even Democratic strongholds are edging away from their oft-touted blue wave.

According to the New York Times’ reporting on the New Jersey gubernatorial election, the race between Murphy and Ciattarelli was too close for comfort in what was projected to be a comfortable victory for Murphy – a state Murphy won by 14 points during his 2017 run and President Biden secured by nearly 16 points in the 2020 election.
The margin of victory was literally a fraction of a percent, with Democrat Murphy securing 50.12% and Republican Ciattarelli securing 49.14% as of 9:00 p.m. EST.
With a state that should have been an easy victory for Democratic incumbent Murphy, it was instead one he narrowly lost – which spells one thing clearly: Democrats are losing their grip that they believed they comfortably held.
Take for instance Virginia, which we at Red Voice Media reported sent shockwaves through the Democratic party when they lost the elections to Republicans for the state governor, lieutenant governor, and attorney general.
These results in both New Jersey and Virginia suggest that Democrats may have difficulty maintaining control of both houses of Congress come 2022, especially if President Biden’s approval ratings remain stalled in the forties or plunge even lower.
And while issues like CRT being injected into K through 12 education certainly dominated headlines and likely had people in these states voting against Democrats (and will likely do so again come the 2022 midterms) there are the real meat-and-potatoes issues that can impact what people do at the ballots: inflation, labor shortages, and the hiccups in the supply chain.
If Democrats keep going in the direction they are, they will lose the House and the Senate in 2022 – and then, a Joe Biden presidency will be essentially meaningless outside of any attempts he employs to evoke executive action.
