In the wake of Democrats’ humiliating gubernatorial defeat in Virginia last night, new reports are coming in alleging that Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) is telling people that she’s throwing in the towel and won’t be seeking reelection.
“Hearing Pelosi is telling people she is not running for re-election tonight. Doesn’t want to be tied to 2022,” conservative personality Jack Posobiec tweeted late Tuesday night.

Last week, Pelosi got testy in an interview with CNN host Jake Tapper when he asked her if she planned to run again in 2022.
“You think I’m going to make an announcement right here and now?” she asked.
“You’re gonna run for re-election though, yes?” Tapper asked, with a visibly irritated Pelosi responding, “Why would I tell you that now?”
“It’s not just me, it’s the American people. It’s the world. This is an international show,” he said, pressing on.
“Probably I would have that conversation with my family first if you don’t mind,” Pelosi replied.

Pelosi may also be reluctant to run again in 2022 because her poll numbers have plummeted. Breitbart News recently reported that she has fallen to just a measly 36 percent approval rating across congressional battleground districts, with a solid majority of 57 percent of Americans disapproving of her performance.
“It is impressive that the least popular politician in the country has somehow managed to become even more unpopular,” said NRCC spokesman Mike Berg. “We are going to ensure voters know that Nancy Pelosi is the running mate for every vulnerable Democrat who backed her for Speaker of the House.”
The Atlantic reported last month that Democrats may already have a replacement in mind if they keep the House majority next year, although that is looking more and more unlikely each day.
“Democratic members of Congress won’t talk about any of this publicly, as if Pelosi might suddenly appear and pull their hearts from their chests,” the publication said.
“Pretty much every Democrat in Congress and beyond is confident that Representative Hakeem Jeffries of New York will be the next speaker of the House if Democrats manage to hold on to their majority next year,” it added.
Pelosi has served in Congress since 1987, and she represents California’s 12th Congressional District, which comprises a part of San Francisco County. Given how bleak things are looking for Pelosi and her fellow Democrats in the 2022 elections, she might want to just quit while she’s ahead and put an end to her political career now.
