Florida District Judge Robert N. Scola Jr delivered an early victory to Twitter by ruling that Trump’s status as former President of the United States does not exempt him from Twitter’s terms of service.
Trump is suing Twitter and CEO Jack Dorsey for banning him from their social media platform.
Trump’s lawyers argued because of his presidency, he should be exempt from the lawsuit being moved to California.
Scola has now granted Twitter’s motion to transfer the case to Northern California, as required by Twitter’s user agreement signed by all users.
Scola said “the Court finds that Trump’s status as President of the United States does not exclude him from the requirements of the forum selection clause in Twitter’s Terms of Service.”
Trump has announced plans for his own social network, Truth Social.
