Rep. Adam Kinzinger was hailed as the great never-Trump congressman who did Pelosi’s bidding and most recently has served on the 1/6 commission. Now he’s about to be erased.
Democratic state lawmakers, who are firmly in control of the Illinois’ legislator are planning on eliminating Kinzinger’s seat. The gerrymandering plot would force Kinzinger to run for another office in a heavily blue leaning state.
Democrats are doing everything they can to try and keep the majority in the House and are using states controlled by Democrats to gerrymander congressional districts and wipe out red districts. Kinzinger who allowed himself to be Pelosi’s lapdog and cried during testimony during the 1/6 hearing will be unemployed because of the Democrats.
Census results from the 2020 survey showed many people have fled the state because of policies causing them to lose one House seat. State Democrats plan on dropping Kinzinger’s district to try and keep the 2022 midterms as competitive as possible.
Even if Democrats don’t eliminate Kinzingers’ seat because of his never-Trump stance he may not survive the primary.
“Adam, right now, he and I get along great. What he’s doing, he’s doing. But if you look at the Republican electorate in any one of those districts — probably not,” said Rep. Mike Bost (R-Ill.) said. “It’d be hard.”
Kinzinger said he isn’t “too freaked out” about losing his seat and may run for Senate or governor.
Davis’ central Illinois seat will likely take on a string bean shape connecting Champaign, Decatur and Springfield (which are already in his district) with the Democratic city of East St. Louis (which is in Bost’s.)
The planned new configuration for the district would make it a relatively strong Democratic seat, meaning Davis might also be eyeing a statewide bid instead of running an uphill House race.
Kinzinger was a useful idiot and now he’s going to lose his seat.
