Just 24 hours after Joe Biden assured Americans in Afghanistan that he would bring everyone home (video below), the U.S. Embassy is telling Americans not to go to Kabul airport. During his speech yesterday, Biden said there was ‘no indication’ that the Taliban was blocking Americans from leaving Afghanistan.
The US Embassy warned:
‘”Because of potential security threats outside the gates at the Kabul airport, we are advising U.S. citizens to avoid traveling to the airport and to avoid airport gates at this time unless you receive individual instructions from a U.S. government representative to do so.”
Biden was contradicted on his statement by DOD spokesman John Kirby who said there had been reports of beatings of Americans. Video evidence has also come out showing the chaos and violence surrounding the airport. While Joe Biden tries to paint a picture of order, it’s just not so.
While Biden bragged that the US is the only one capable of successfully airlifting people, the British have had more success getting their people out:
“This is one of the largest difficult airlifts in history, and the only country in the world capable of projecting this much power on the far side of the world with this degree of precision is the United States of America.”
There are still thousands of Americans left in Afghanistan waiting to leave. One first-hand account from The Guardian describes desperate pleas from an American named Sara:
“No one from the US is helping us. No one is telling us which gate to go to – we don’t even know when the US flights are leaving. There is violence everywhere, but every gate we go to is closed, and no one gives us any information or shows any mercy.”
The airport remains flooded with Afghans who see this as their chance to escape the Taliban. It was also reported by an American trapped in the country that word spread that this is their ticket to get to America. One American explained his first-hand experience to ABC News:
ABC News’ Phil Lipof interviewed David Fox; an American stuck in Kabul with his wife and toddler son. He tried going to the airport and tried getting through the crowds but had no success—a frightening ordeal with his 21-month old son and wife.
He says he plans on waiting until “commercial” flights begin again because the evacuation flights have attracted Afghans who believe they can eventually obtain American citizenship if they can get onto a flight.
He shows a document that the U.S. Embassy consular services department sent to assist Americans and eligible Afghans claiming Special Immigrant Visa (SIV) status. The document looks exactly like an approved VISA document, except there is no name or serial number, making the document easy to copy.
Was this on purpose or a dimwitted move by the State Department?
The State Department has caused the stampede on the airport with their dimwitted piece of paper with no name or number. Americans are still stranded and in danger, because the Taliban is now going door-to-door searching for enemies.
