Wait. I thought the Biden Administration just pulled our troops from Afghanistan, and now we’re sending them back. What does that make us look like, or shall I say, what does that make the old coot, living in the Oval Office, look like?
On Thursday, the Pentagon told America it was sending American troops back into the war-torn theater in Afghanistan in an attempt to provide security for U.S. Embassy personnel stationed in Kabul.
I spent eight years in the military and even I know, you plan for this before you make all the announcements that you are pulling troops. You make sure you have secured the area for the personnel and their families before you pull the remaining military members, but not our president.
[Guardian] The soldiers will provide additional ground and air support for the processing and security of US personnel who will be airlifted to Kabul airport, officials said. The troops were scheduled to arrive within 48 hours.
Other countries are expected to follow suit as the pace of the Taliban’s victories have continued with the insurgents claiming the capture of the country’s second and third largest cities on Thursday, Kandahar and Herat.
Some countries have already begun to withdraw staff, and the US and Turkey are negotiating a security plan for the airport in the capital that would be essential for any evacuation.
So much for Biden’s announcement yesterday that the Afghani government needs to fight for themselves and now the US military is going back into Afghanistan. Maybe all this should have been thought out before, but that would require someone in Biden’s administration to speak up and of course we can all see there is no one doing that.
If you can’t score a touchdown on the field, keep moving the goal posts. I’m sure the press will get behind the WH and proceed to tell everyone what an amazing leader Biden is and how this is the best thing ever. Meanwhile our adversaries can’t believe how fickless our leadership is.
Good Lord – could this administration be any more of a disaster if it tried? So far today this is what we’ve seen: +210,000 illegally invading from our Southern border, highest inflation in decades, administration has to ask our frenemies (and the “fr” is questionable) for more oil after destroying our energy independence and now….now… Saigon Redux.
To the military- Thank you for your service and dedication to the mission. You did your job with integrity, courage and valor. I do believe that initially you protected us from Al Queda and the Taliban.
However it became clear that as time went on politicians messed up, as usual, and caused untold suffering for you. I want you to know that this citizen thanks you and please don’t feel like things were a waste. We cannot always guarantee the end result but your efforts were spectacular as usual.
