Boston Rev. Eugene Rivers III, the Seymour Institute for Black Church and Policy Studies director, joined Fox News on Friday morning to call out “Squad” member Rep. Cori Bush.
Rivers claimed that Bush was an “absurd and ridiculous” call to defund the police, especially when records show the Congresswoman has spent tens of thousands of dollars on private security.
“The call for the defunding police is not wrong. It’s absurd and ridiculous,” Rivers, a community activist who served as an advisor for the Bush and Clinton administrations to work on faith-based initiatives, argued on “Fox & Friends” on Friday. “It is absolutely an intellectual and ideological crime against Black people to talk about defunding the police.”
“Ms. Bush should be arrested for political and ideological malpractice,” he added. “It is absurd.”
Rev. Rivers III is right, but it will never happen. Oh, but if she were a Republican, she would be in jail, or at least impeachment proceedings would have begun.
It shocks the conscience that Bush has a job at all, let alone as a representative of tens of thousands of people. If she sat in a meeting at a private-sector job and pushed for the defunding of the police with the mountains of evidence that it costs thousands of innocent lives, she would be fired 10 minutes into the meeting.
But then again, let’s not forget that Democrats vote color and handouts. Then they wonder why the communities they are in charge of continue to be an astronomical mess. The days of ‘ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country’ are from a long-gone era.
When you pledge your allegiance to the United States Service, it does first say allegiance to the United States of America “Defend against all Enemies foreign and DOMESTIC,” only after it talks about the president. If an unlawful order is given, it requires/demands disobedience. So if the Democrats think the services are behind them, they should seriously reconsider. They will be sadly disappointed.
A few years ago, Cori Bush was homeless and being sued for not paying her OWN rent. Now the activist is paying thousands for her protection. It sure didn’t take long for Cori to join the political elitist group. The rule for thee but not for me club needs a reality check. The squad needs to be sent on a recon mission (re-election) on which they don’t return.
She really isn’t doing anything to put people at more risk than peeps like Cuomo with “No bail” and de Blasio with cutting NYPD budget aren’t doing as they hide behind 24/7/365 security. She is just louder about it. Yes, I know she is still oppressed.
Let me be clear; Bush doesn’t represent me in any fashion. I support the police. Blue lives do matter, as do Black Lives and all lives to run the gambit. I feel for the police officers who work in Democrat-run districts. Many are in the position of having achieved rank in their Departments. They are now forced to decide whether to start over somewhere else or stay in a police department with no support and anti-police forces working against them. And worst of all is that many quality officers will leave for other departments outside their areas, and those with disciplinary issues and a history of being problematic will be unable to leave.
Who will police departments hire to replace the quality officers who are leaving? Who will want to work there? You are no better than who you hire in police departments, and I find it difficult to believe that many quality people will want to work in democrat-infested districts.
Would you please name one single thing that Bush had done that has benefited her constituents’ prosperity? There are none. What she has accomplished is to furnish a great campaign ad for her opponent in the upcoming elections.
I wish they had to use their own money for security instead of campaign dollars. Amazing what happens when you have to use your own dollars. Campaign funds are abused so much; there needs to be a limit on what you can spend it on. When someone donates, I would assume that money is for getting the person elected/reelected. Not for a slush fund to use during your term.
I have a better idea. Instead of defunding the police, how about we defund welfare for non-disabled people? Follow me here; if we take the bottle from the people’s lips, they will need to learn to fend for themselves. In doing so, the women will understand the myriad of reasons that a father has a place in his children’s home. 1. He can be financially responsible for those children 2. He can raise them to be better people and contributing members of society. You’re welcome.
