Arizona GOP Rep. Andy Biggs is calling for Joe Biden to face serious consequences for his border crisis.
In an op-ed for Fox News, Bigg wrote that Biden’s Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas should resign or be removed.
“If Mayorkas refuses to step down, Congress should initiate impeachment proceedings,” Biggs wrote.
“The secretary tells the lies about the border being closed, seasonal increases in illegal crossings, and who is being returned, and otherwise ignores the biggest crisis in our country today (an open border that is confronting more than 170,000 illegal border crossers in each of the past two months),” he said.
Biden and Mayorkas are directly responsible for the record number of illegal border crossings in all groups – families, unaccompanied minors, and single adult males.
The timeline shows a direct correlation of the inauguration of Biden in January to the massive increase in illegal incursions into the United States. What did Biden do that incentivized these border crossers?
Biden rescinded the Remain in Mexico Policy (MPP), which had been successful in slowing illegal immigration. He also exempted unaccompanied minors from Title 42, which was implemented during the COVID-19 outbreak to prevent potentially infected people from illegally entering the nation.
“The record number entering the country and the record low in deportations show both ends of the Biden administration’s efforts to drive up the number of people in the country illegally,” Biggs said.
“Biden, Mayorkas, and company not only incentivize and facilitate illegal border crossings, they want to expand the number of illegal entrants to America. There are more than three million individuals, many of whom are suspected or convicted criminals, living in our communities who have received due process and have been ordered by a judge to leave our country. Yet, the Biden administration is doing nothing about them,” he added.
The border crisis continues to get worse by the day.
U.S.Border Patrol officials set a new record for single-day apprehensions on Thursday with the arrest of over 1,000 illegal immigrants at the Del Rio Sector in one day.
Del Rio Sector Chief Patrol Agent Austin Skero tweeted the news of a record-setting apprehension of more than 1,000 migrants in a single day, Breitbart reported.
Data released last month by CBP indicated that border agents have seen a 233 percent increase in the amount of fentanyl seized at the southern border compared to last year, Fox News reported over the first three months of the year.
According to CBP, 639 pounds of fentanyl were seized in March, up from 245 pounds in March 2020.
Through the first three months of the year, CBP reported that it had seized more than a ton of the drug, snaring 2,098 pounds of fentanyl.
In the first quarter of 2020, 629 pounds were seized.
According to newly released data, a whopping 178,622 was stopped by federal law enforcement at the U.S.-Mexico border trying to illegally enter the country.
That number is the highest amount in more than two decades.
The April total is up 3% from 172,331 in March, a 20-year high for the number of people who tried to get into the United States by sneaking over between land crossings or were denied entry at the border checkpoints.
Here’s the most terrifying stat of all: In 2020, only 459,000 migrants were apprehended trying to illegally enter the U.S.
In the 2021 fiscal year alone, nearly 750,000 people have been encountered trying to enter the U.S. from Mexico.
