Late-night comedy shows have really become less about laughs and more about politics in the last few years.
It seems like ever since Trump put in his bid to become president the late-night comedy hosts have had a meltdown and are now using their shows to air out their political frustrations.
Of course, this shift in late-night has not been helping the ratings; as many hosts like Jimmy Kimmel and Jimmy Fallon have seen huge dips in their viewership.
But one new guy on the scene, Greg Gutfeld, is actually seeing a surge in his ratings as he just topped both Kimmel and Fallon.
Fox News host Greg Gutfeld’s new late-night show recently topped traditional late-night broadcast shows “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” and “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” in ratings, according to Nielsen Media Research.
Gutfeld!” averaged 1.6 million viewers for the week ending May 14, beating Kimmel on ABC and Fallon on NBC, though it trailed CBS’s “Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” Nielsen data shows.
May 13 was the Fox show’s best night so far, with 1.8 million viewers, placing second only to Colbert’s show, which drew 1.9 million viewers. Gutfeld’s show beat Colbert slightly in the key 25- to 54-year-old demographic.
“Gutfeld!” has ranked third overall since its debut in April, averaging 1.5 million viewers, below Kimmel’s 1.6 million and Colbert’s 2 million but above “The Tonight Show’s” 1.4 million.
Holy moly, Gutfeld is pummeling these guys!
Looks like America is fed up with the far-left political commentary and actually wants to watch something entertaining.
