Tuesday’s verdict in the trial of former Minneapolis cop Derek Chauvin was pounced upon by Democrats to engage in virtue-signaling to their rabid base and solidify their support for dramatic changes to the nation’s police.
One Democrat who moved with lightning-fast speed after the hammer came down on the hapless Chauvin was embattled California Governor Gavin Newsom, who is currently in a fight for his political life.
Newsom issued a statement pandering to blacks by claiming that George Floyd would still be alive if he had a different skin color.
The governor shamelessly stated that “George Floyd would still be alive if he looked like me,” in a missive from this Twitter account. He added; “Now, we must continue our work to root out the racial injustice that haunts our society.”
George Floyd would still be alive if he looked like me. That must change.
No conviction can repair the harm done to the Floyd family, but today’s verdict provides accountability.

If Newsom is to survive the upcoming recall, he is going to have to rely heavily on the same despicable race-baiting that fueled Joe Biden’s presidential campaign and his rapid response to the Chauvin verdict demonstrates that he is up to the task.
Newsom issued a more comprehensive statement as well; “The hard truth is that, if George Floyd looked like me, he’d still be alive today. No conviction can repair the harm done to George Floyd and his family, but today’s verdict provides some accountability as we work to root out the racial injustice that haunts our society.” He said, “We must continue the work of fighting systemic racism and excessive use of force. It’s why I signed some of the nation’s most progressive police reform legislation into law. I will continue working with community leaders across the state to hear concerns and support peaceful expression.”
Newsom’s political woes have only worsened since he took to Twitter last month to decry Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s lifting restrictions on businesses and rescinding the mask mandate, a move that Newsom called “Absolutely reckless.”

He was once again proven to be badly wrong with cases dropping in the Lone Star State while locked down California continues to be among the worst in the nation under Newsom’s “leadership” despite the harsh lockdowns and other restrictions that he has imposed.
No other governor west of New York has seen such a dramatic reversal of fortune as Newsom, who was initially hailed as a shining example of success by the media until the truth could no longer be hidden.
If there is any salvation for Newsom, it will be in further rubbing raw the sores of racial resentment.
Thanks to the media and Democrats, Floyd has become a holy figure that many have likened to Jesus Christ, a sick comparison that was echoed in post-verdict remarks by Newsom’s fellow Californian, Nancy Pelosi who thanked Floyd for dying for her party’s cause.

According to the masked Speaker; “Thank you George Floyd for sacrificing your life for justice…Because of you and because of thousands, millions of people around the world who came out for justice, your name will always be synonymous for justice.”
The extent of race-baiting that the Democrats have engaged in to consolidate their political power has been enormously successful but it is going to have lasting consequences for America.
