While today’s NFL players are some of the most strong, athletic men on the planet, football in the modern era has always been a tough sport, as anyone who has played will tell you.
Like Rep. Burgess Owens, Utah Republican. He played 10 seasons in the 1970s and 1980s as a free safety, but only after busting through racial glass ceilings at Rickards High School in Tallahassee, Fla., and again at the University of Miami, where he earned a bachelor’s in biology and chemistry (for those of you who have earned degrees in those subjects, you know it isn’t easy).
As a black kid growing up in the 1950s and 1960s in the midst of legitimate Jim Crow laws, even in Ohio and Florida no doubt Owens faced some discrimination — not only because of his skin color but because he was damned good at the game of football and smart enough to earn a degree in the sciences.
But overcame all of that to become a Hall of Fame, Super Bowl-winning player and eventually a successful businessman and congressman. Not a bad set of accomplishments for anyone, really, but especially a person of color — if you believe the left-wing race-baiters, that is, who lie to anyone who will listen that what Owens accomplished isn’t possible in “white supremacist America.”
Except that it is, because “white supremacist America” doesn’t exist except in the minds of gaslighting, race-baiting, identity politics Democrats and their lackeys in the media.
Like Pat Bagley, a ‘political cartoonist’ at the Salt Lake City Tribune.
He hasn’t accomplished a third of what Owens has, but he felt that, as a white guy, it was nevertheless appropriate for him to virtue signal his ‘wokeness’ to the noodnick leftists who find him amusing with an outrageous depiction of the Hall of Famer drawn simply to provoke outrage, not to make any real point which is supposed to be the objective of political cartoons.
For some reason, Bagley thought it was appropriate to use Owens’ support for border security as a skateboard to bash him over the head with, comparing his position to the KKK of the days when, say, Owens was growing up black in America, they didn’t want neighborhoods ‘spoiled’ by African-Americans.
“We have heard of “mansplaining” now we have “whitesplaining” from a white man comparing a black man, who grew up under Jim Crow laws, to the KKK. Awful tone deaf @sltrib @Patbagley. Expect an apology but I won’t hold my breathe [sic],” Owens wrote on Twitter with a screen grab of the cartoon.

You ‘get it,’ right? Bagley is equating Owens’ opposition to Joe Biden’s and Democrats’ open borders policies, which are, as Tucker Carlson correctly points out, designed to replace American voters with those of millions of others from very poor countries — including Bagley’s vote, by the way (otherwise, why import a hundred thousand of migrants a month?).
Because, as Bagley proves again, the Democratic Party, the party he supports, is all about skin color and identity and dividing Americans along racial and ethnic lines — just the sort of thing people who want to destroy our country would do.
There are some truly crappy people in America. Pat Bagley is one of them.
